Today at approximately 1pm, members of the Hazleton Police Department Narcotics Division arrested 21 year old Ghislane Astacio for Felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy based on an investigation in which she delivered 30 grams of raw heroin.
This several month investigation began in March of this year, which her husband Royal Astacio was arrested after delivering large amounts of heroin and methamphetamine.  Astacio was taken into custody by the Hazleton Police Department Patrol Division at her place of employment, the Luzerne County Public Assistance Office, located in downtown Hazleton.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 28, 2018 before the Honorable Magistrate Joseph D Zola. The Narcotics Unit was assisted by the Luzerne County Drug Task Force and Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General during this investigation, whom we rely upon to coordinate our efforts in this fight against drugs.
Jerry Speziale Statement
"Regardless of her possession there's a zero tolerance for distributing drugs in our City."
"Anyone that dares to sell drugs in Hazleton will vigorously be pursued and face swift and decisive justice."
"The mission of the Hazleton City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, reduce fear, and maintain order.  The Hazleton Police Department is committed to accomplishing its mission of protecting the lives and property of all the citizens and visitors of Hazleton by treating everyone with compassion, courtesy, professionalism, and respect, while efficiently rendering public safety services and enforcing the laws impartially, by fighting crime both through deterrence and the relentless pursuit of criminals."

Mayor Jeff Cusat Statement
"I am proud of the work by the men and woman of Hazleton's Finest in our fight to make a drug free Hazleton."
