According to a press release, wanted individual, 25 year old Edward Zapata of Hazleton, was charged with 3 felony counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance and 3 felony counts of Criminal Use of a Communication Facility by the Hazleton City Police Department Narcotics Division.
Zapata was taken into custody by the Hazleton City Police Department Patrol Division after an officer saw Zapata in the area of Diamond Avenue and Seybert Street around 2:45pm. The officer was familiar Zapata and had knowledge that he was currently wanted for a parole violation as well as having a large amount of summary warrants.
The Hazleton City Police Department Narcotics Division had an active investigation on Zapata since January of 2019. Throughout the undercover operation Zapata delivered 150 bags of fentanyl on several occasions in the City of Hazleton.
Zapata was immediately transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
