In August of 2017 ATF and the FBI raided a property at Centre and Front Streets in Freeland and a property at Washington and Main Streets.

The owners of the properties, Roberto Torner and Liza Robles, were arrested during that August 2017 raid with both Federal and Local drug and firearm offenses. Robles was released shortly after, and Torner was released in September of 2017.

In January of 2018, Torner was arrested again on new charges in relation to possessing stolen explosives.

Today, State Troopers in both marked and unmarked vehicles and Weatherly Police were seen at both above mentioned properties. No information has been officially released yet, however it is known that Robles and Alba Veras, an individual known to reside with Robles, were jailed this morning in the Carbon County Jail.

Robles and Veras face misdemeanor 1 charges of Criminal Conspiracy of Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another, misdemeanor 1 charges of Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another, and two charges each of misdemeanor 2 Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Veras also faces two misdemeanor 2 charges of simple assault.

The new charges were filed by Weatherly Borough Police, and are documented as occurring on July 5th 2016 in Weatherly Borough.

July 6th 2016, just after midnight, is another important date for those involved. Around 2am on that day, a home was set on fire in Weatherly Borough. The fire was immediately suspected to be arson and the home belonged to Torner/Robles.

The fire wound up completely destroying two homes and severely damaging a third. During the initial August 2017 raid, an official at the scene had stated that the investigation was in relation to drugs, guns, arson, and a missing person. Thus far, only charges for the drug and gun offenses have been officially filed.

A press release is expected in the morning from Weatherly Police, however the current charges do not show a direct connection between the fire and the newly filed charges from 2016.
