The Beaver Meadows Police Department is praising the Trump administration for recent changed with immigration and customs enforcement.
The Department stated on Facebook that the changes have made it much easier for the Beaver Meadows Police Department to do their jobs and saved the taxpayers money in the process.
Above are two illegal immigrants discovered in recent days in Beaver Meadows. The men were handed over to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and face deportation.
Until recently, ICE has been known for declining to deport illegal aliens. In a recent interview with the Standard Speaker, Beaver Meadows Police Chief Mike Morresi spoke of how ICE has begun following new guidelines.
An executive order under the Trump administration changed what types of illegal immigrants can be deported.
In short, ICE would not deport illegal immigrants prior to the Trump administration unless the immigrants had been a threat or committed serious crimes. Even then, Police would have to transport detained immigrants to ICE. Under Trump's administration, almost all illegal immigrants are able to be deported, and ICE picks up the immigrants from the local Police Departments who detain them.
