Trespass Leads To Marijuana Distribution Arrest

Today at approximately 1212PM, Hazleton City Police were dispatched to North Vine Street for a report of a trespasser inside a mobile home at the location.

According to a press release, upon arrival, Officer Chris Zubris and Corporal George Shaffer located two males sleeping inside a mobile home at the location.  Both males were taken into custody without incident.

After searching, Officer C. Zubris located a pipe commonly used to inhale illegal narcotics and discovered a strong odor of raw marijuana while inside the mobile home. 

The male, later identified as 38 year old Ciro Contreras-Sanchez of Hazleton, indicated Marijuana was in a back pack lying on the couch where he was sleeping. 

The bag was seized and searched by Officer C. Zubris who located approximately two pounds of raw marijuana according to a press release.

The Officer conducted a field test at Hazleton Police Headquarters, which indicated positive for (THC) Marijuana.

Charges were filed and Ciro Contreras-Sanchez was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession W/ Intent to Distribute.

Sanchez was arraigned by the on the on duty magistrate and transported to the LCCF were he was lodged pending further court action.

The other individual was released pending further investigation.

Halloween Drifting Event in Hazleton Area

Yesterday and today the last drift event of 2019 was held at Evergreen Raceway in Drums.

During the event, Hazleton News 1's Shayne Balliet took rode along with some of the drivers before the end of the night where drivers used their cars to smash pumpkins that were suspended in the turn of the racetrack.
