On September 28, 2019, Hazleton Police were dispatched to Lincoln Street and 4th Street, at approximately 0351 hours, on a report of a male attempting to assault another male who had an unknown weapon in his hand.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim a 25 year old male, who stated that Wander Ramirez Moya (03/16/92) had sent a text message instructing the victim to come out of the residence to discuss money owed over a vehicle sale.  When the victim went outside Moya grabbed him by the neck demanding money and attempted to stab him with a screwdriver based on the fact the victim did not have the money allegedly owed.

The victim was able to free himself from Moya and fled while calling 911. Officers arrive and observed Moya attempting to flee south on Lincoln Street and East on Diamond Avenue.   During the foot pursuit, Moya turned the corner and ran into a railing causing him to flip over the railing and fall on the ground.

Moya was taken into custody by the officers without incident and a cursory check of the area located the screwdriver on West 1st Street where Moya discarded it.

The victim was transported back to Hazleton Police Headquarters where a written statement was taken.  Moya was transported back to Hazleton Headquarters and lodged in the department cells during processing.

Contact was made with the on call Assistant District Attorney who approved charges for Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Theft, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Public Drunkenness.

Moya was transported to LCCF for overnight arraignment.

"The officer's were quick in their response and able to piece this investigation together quickly."
