"End Police Brutality: Hazleton Stands Up!" is the name of a rally scheduled for Wednesday February 13th at the Hazleton School district Admin Building.
The rally is being held to protest the police response during an altercation caught on video in the HAHS Cafeteria on Monday February 4th.
In the now viral video, a female student is seen being struck by a school police officer who then held her down on a table by her hair, causing local residents, parents, and students to question the force used in restraining the juvenile.
That video can be seen here:
Conflicting stories detailed what happened prior to the HASD Police and Security intervening in the original video.
A second video has been sent in to Hazleton News 1 showing some of the fight leading up to Police and Security restraining the student. That video can be seen here:
The Facebook Event for the rally states "Parents of the assaulted students asked the community for their support in this and thank them for their efforts as we all work forward to make the changes that our community needs."
Many questions have been raised about the requirement for a Police force within the Hazleton Area School District. Make The Road Pennsylvania, which is listed as a host of the event, shared the event with a post stating "NO COPS IN OUR SCHOOLS".
Many local residents justify the Police presence within the schools due to the high volume of events involving juveniles.
Below is a compilation of videos involving juveniles at the high school and just after dismissal.
