Just after 10am this morning, police say an unidentified male entered the Convenient Store (Pantry Quick) located at 902 West Diamond Avenue.

The suspect made a small purchase and then produced a black handgun, racking back the slide and pointing it at the clerk while demanding money from the register according to police.

The male suspect then left fled the store without any money as police were responding. After leaving the store, the male walked on West Diamond Avenue toward Boundary Street.

Hazleton City Patrol and Detective Divisions immediately responded to the scene with West Hazleton Police and saturated the area.

Anyone with information as to the identity of the male suspect in the attached surveillance photograph is asked to call 911 and request to speak to Detect Sergeant David Rodick, HPD.

Tips can be provided and left anonymously at www.hazletonpolice.com “Submit a Tip” section.

“This male is considered armed and dangerous any officer encountering the suspect should use extreme caution and handle accordingly” Chief Jerry Speziale said.
