On July 29th Freeland Borough Police say they responded to a domestic dispute on Centre Street in the Borough.
According to police, a person involved in the incident stated that a male leaving the residence had stolen something. With permission, Police searched a bag the male was carrying and found a credit card embossing machine and approximately 75-100 blank cards including gift cards, and major credit cards.
The male, identified in court dockets as 39 year old Niven D. Derrell of Brooklyn New York was charged with the following:
M1 Access Device Is Counterfeit, Altered, Incomplete
F3 Unlawful Device Making Equipment Produces/Traffics
M1 Unlawful Device Making Equipment Possession
Derrell was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, however has posted $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at the Luzerne County Central Court.
Freeland Police Chief Kevin Schuetrumpf states the investigation is still ongoing at this time with other departments.
