Police, Fire, And EMS Rescue Dog From Well

At approximately 7am on Thursday September 1st 2016, Butler Township Police responded to a report of an injured animal heard yelping around the area of Hidden Forest Drive in Beech Mountain.

Upon arrival, police located a blue coon hound trapped in an old well approximately 50 feet from the roadway in a heavily wooded area.

Police state that the well appeared to be approximately 6 to 6 1/2 feet deep and was half filled with water from recent rainfall.

Police, Valley Regional Fire and Rescue, Valley Regional Medic 26, and the Hazle Township Fire Department were able to safely extricate the dog from the well.

The dog did not have any tags or chips. Rescuers were able to provide food, fresh water, and warm blankets for the dog and the dog was transported to the Plains Animal Shelter.

Officer Harvey was able to later contact Police and advise that the dog was doing well and will be reunited with the owner.
