Mother Runs Over Daughter, Flees Scene After Domestic Dispute

Yesterday, June 4th 2018, at approximately 12:30pm, Hazleton City Police responded to the area of 586 Cleveland Street for a report of a female who was struck by a car.

The victim, 18 year old Felicia Catrone, and the operator of the vehicle, 44 year old Michelle Ann Vanek, had been involved in a domestic dispute.

​Police state that Vanek is Catrone's mother. 
According to a press release via Hazleton City Police, as Vanek was leaving and driving away, Catrone stood in front of Vanek's car. Vanek drove into Catrone. Catrone attempted to hold on to the vehicle and keep from falling however fell to the pavement when her right leg was run over.

Vanek left the scene, however returned to remove Catrone's flip flops from the roadway so they would not be stolen. Vanek refused to call 911 or render aid to the Catrone who was unable to stand as a result of her injuries.
Vanek was charged with:
Aggrivated assault, F1 & F2
Aggrivated Assault by Vehicle, F3
Simple Assault, M2 & M2
Reckless endangerment, M2
Reckless Driving, S

Catrone was treated and released from Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton. Vanek was arriegned in front of Magistrate Zole and released on $100,000 unsecured bail. ​​
