Just after 2am on Sunday, Hazleton Patrol Units were dispatched to a report of a fight in progress and a nineteen year-old female with a gunshot wound at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Police say when they got there, 30 year old Roberto Alvarez Marquez was causing a disturbance and fighting with security. Alvarez was detained and eventually taken into custody by Hazleton Patrol Officers.
An investigation conducted by the Crime Detectives Unit culminated in the arrest of Roberto Alvarez-Marquez. It was determined that Alvarez-Marquez shot the victim in the abdomen with a handgun, causing serious bodily injury.
Alvarez-Marquez was charged with Aggravated Assault, Persons not to Possess a Firearm, Simple Assault, and Reckless Endangerment. He was arraigned and committed to the Luzerene County Correctional Facility.
