9/6/2019

This year, National Suicide Prevention week will be observed from September 8, 2019 through September 14, 2019. During this time, Luzerne County will be recognizing Suicide Prevention week by displaying the Suicide Prevention colors on the exterior Courthouse lights from dusk until dawn.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. In 2018, Luzerne County lost 57 residents to death by suicide and in 2019, we have lost more than 20 residents to death by suicide.

“We want Luzerne County residents to know that we, as a community, are here to help one another overcome mental health issues,” County Manager, David Pedri, said.

Mental Health Crisis support is available in our county 24/7 by dialing 211. If you or someone you know needs help, dial 211. Help is only a phone call away.
