A recent meeting with Laurel Mall tenants, workers, and Lexington Reality International, upper management of the mall, involved the plans to fill the vacant Kmart anchor store.
Lexington Reality International, based out of New Jersey, announced at the meeting that they have signed leases for Hobby Lobby and Planet Fitness to join the Hazleton Laurel Mall tenants.
Hobby Lobby is a chain of American arts and crafts stores based in Oklahoma City. Planet Fitness is one of the largest fitness club franchises by number of members and locations.
While the leases have not been officially announced to the public, plans are underway to renovate the Kmart area to accommodate the two. A minor expansion is planned and demo of the store interior is starting with renovations expected to be completed by Fall of 2020.
As malls struggle internationally, the Laurel Mall has successfully added TJ Maxx and Dunham's Sports as anchors along with many other smaller stores within the mall.
