Hazleton Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

​The Hazleton Street Crime Unit conducted a traffic stop at 10th and Locust Street at approximately 8:10PM yesterday evening.

While on patrol in an unmarked police vehicle, Officers P. Bautista and R. Mariano observed a Lexus  with PA registration traveling west on 11th Street.

Subsequent investigation determined that the registration was expired on the vehicle.

Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of N. Locust  and W. 10th Street and identified the operator as Jimmy Martinez (04/16/87) who was driving while under suspension DUI related.

Upon approach of the vehicle the officers observed a baggie containing alleged marijuana and Martinez was removed from the vehicle and placed in custody.

Search incident to arrest revealed Martinez to be in possession of approximately (16) grams of suspected marijuana and $514.00 US Currency.

Martinez was transported to City Hall.

Charges are being filed on Martinez for Possession of marijuana, Drug paraphernalia and numerous summary violations.

The Vehicle was towed by Zenier’s.
