Hazleton Roof Dog Back With Owner, Neglect Going On Since 2015

7/23/2018

On Sunday the 22nd around 2:30pm, Hazleton City Police and Hazleton City Fire responded to 189 South Church Street and rescued the above pictured dog from the roof of the home.

Neighbors stated that the dog had been on the roof for several days before being rescued. The owners also reportedly made no attempt to get the dog down from the roof.

WNEP covered the recent story of the dog being rescued from the roof of the home.

Documentation of the abuse dates back to 2015 where the same dog was removed from the same home by Luzerne County SPCA in mid July. The dog, among others, was reportedly left inside of the 189 South Church Street home in 90 degree weather without electricity, with Hazleton City Code Enforcement becoming involved.

In both cases, however, the dog was returned to the owners a short while later.

Despite images of the dog being tied up to a fence post in 2015, being left inside of the dangerously hot home, the home reportedly being condemned at one point, and the dog recently being ignored on the rooftop for days... The dog currently remains with the clearly neglectful owners.
The injustice for this dog, and other dogs that reside in the home, is now going viral with hundreds of Hazleton area residents contacting local Police and animal groups to step in and intervene.

The suspected owner, only identified by her Facebook name of "La Negra Chula A", appears to be repeatedly breeding the dog and selling the puppies for $300.

We will update the story when further information comes in on the exact identity of the owner and what the Hazleton City Police or Luzerne County authorities can do about the situation.
