In July, Hazleton City Police and Detectives responded to (3) shooting incidents in the City that caused damage to a home and vehicles with no one injured.
On July 23rd, 2019, at approximately 1928hrs., Hazleton City Police and Detectives responded to the report of a shooting at the intersection of North Laurel Street and West Spring Street. Through further investigation, it was discovered that Cristopher PANIAGUA was the actor who fired multiple shots at this intersection.
On August 29, 2019, at approximately 11:00PM, Hazleton City Police and Detectives responded to a shooting in the area of North Wyoming Street and 11th Street, which involved damage to a targeted, unoccupied home. The structure was a multi dwelling structure and part of the occupied structure also sustained damage.
As a result, the Hazleton Police Department is vigorously investigating and pursuing those responsible and attribute these incidents to targeted "Group Violence."
The Hazleton Police Department is searching for Christopher PANIAGUA, who is wanted for his involvement in the July 23rd shooting and the following charges have been filed:
Aggravated Assault Felony 1
Aggravated Assault- Attempt to cause with a deadly weapon Felony 2
Propulsion of Missiles into an Occupied Vehicle Misdemeanor 1
Simple Assault Misdemeanor 2
Recklessly Endangering Another Person Misdemeanor 2
Possession of a Firearm by a Minor Misdemeanor 2
