10/18/2019

Rumors spread across social media this morning after a fire alarm was pulled at the High School today.
Rumors included a fire at the high school and a fire at the Hazleton Elementary/Middle School after students and faculty evacuated following a fire alarm being pulled at the High School.
In an e-mail sent out to parents, Superintendent Uplinger squashed the rumors and stated that the person who pulled the fire alarm will be dealt with:

"Good Morning,
There is a rumor going around that the Hazleton Elementary/Middle School is on fire.  This is absolutely false!  There is no emergency situation at HEMS, or any other building for that matter.
Additionally, at the High School, someone pulled the fire alarm.  There is no emergency at the High School!  The person who did this will be dealt with accordingly.
With all of this, if you see something on Social Media, I would appreciate your assistance in quelling these ridiculous rumors.
Thank you,
Brian T. Uplinger
Superintendent"
