Hazleton Police Officer K. Crawford conducted a TRAFFIC STOP on a group in the area of West 17th St and Lincoln Street at approximately 3:00PM, on a white Chevrolet Equinox bearing PA Registration. As Officer Crawford approached the driver’s side window an odor of marijuana was emanating from inside the vehicle.

Numerous Hazleton Units responded as backup due to the numerous occupants in the vehicle, which was occupied by the driver, a 17 year old juvenile Hispanic male and 4 other occupants, identified as Angel Polanco (04/11/01), Leo Rosario (11/09/97), Elvis Jimenez Rodriguez (06/02/00), and a male who initially identified himself with a false name, but positively identified as Alex Hernandez (01/21/99).

All of the individuals were detained by numerous members of the Hazleton Patrol Division.  A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, which yielded (7) individually packed baggies of marijuana and approximately (70) bags of heroin.

The males were all taken into custody, transported to City Hall, and placed in holding cells.  The vehicle was towed and the males were fingerprinted and processed on drug possession and drug paraphernalia charges.

Hernandez was additionally processed for False Identification to Law Enforcement.  The males were later released. Charges are to be filed.
