Freeland Police responded to the rear of the 300 block of Centre Street today after a construction worker in the area spotted a tank with two snakes inside of it in the alleyway.
Officer Mizenko, Sergeant Racho, and Chief Schuetrumpf responded to find two ball python snakes which were doused in gasoline inside of the glass tank. One of the snakes was deceased.
Police say that the second snake was washed off prior to transporting it to Cage-N-Tank where it will be rehabilitated.
Police are searching for those responsible and plan to file, at minimum, charges of cruelty to animals. "Anything that I can make apply, will apply." Chief Schuetrumpf said when questioned about possible charges.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 5706360111 or 911.
