At last night's Freeland Borough Council meeting, Police Chief Kevin Schuetrumpf spoke about the search for Shawn Christy.
"I'm about 99 percent sure that he's been in this Borough on several occasions." Schuetrumpf said. "Problem is, we're recieving the calls long after the people see this guy."
Schuetrumpf also commented on rumors going around on social media. " (It's been) Going around Facebook that he's been breaking into houses in Freeland, he's living in Freeland. We have not had any burglaries, I'll tell you that."
Recently, Butler Township Police responded to a possible incident involving Christy along Terrace Road which did not turn out to be credible. Just before the Council meeting, Butler Township Police recieved another call for a sighting along Upper Lehigh Main Street which Freeland also responded to. Chief Schuetrumpf elaborated on that sighting. "About two hours ago we were out in Upper Lehigh. It was another sighting. I believe it to be a credible source. Given the description, there's a good chance that it is him."
Chief Schuetrumpf handed out flyers with Christy's image on them to make the public aware of his appearance, also stating that Christy has a tattoo of a cross with barbed wire on his right upper arm and that Christy speaks with a severe lisp.
