At yesterday's Freeland Council Meeting, Council voted unanimously to hire Kevin S. Schuetrumpf as Freeland Borough Police Chief.
Schuetrumpf will be under a contract of 44k for year one, 45k for year two, and 46k for year three.

Schuetrumpf was born and raised in Hazleton, graduated from West Hazleton High School, and currently lives in Drums.
He described himself as a people person, stating "if you have questions, don't ever hesitate to ask. I believe a Police Department is only as strong as the community it serves. If you don't tell us whats going on we can't address your problems. No call is too small. If we don't know, we can't help you."
Schuetrumpf was not afraid to joke when asked about the pronunciation of his last name responding "It's Smith for short. She like girl and trum Shetrum.".
He is 46 years old and scheduled to retire from Pennsylvania State Police Troop L on March 9th after 25 years in the field. His reason for applying is simple as he says. "Im 46 years old. It's too early for me to sit back." He went on to explain that he is a father of two children and he wants to give them the best life he can.
