During Thursday's Council meeting in Freeland, Council President stated that Council was considering charging for bulk item stickers. The stickers are picked up at the Borough building and are required to throw away any bulk items in the Borough. Previously these stickers were free for residents, but Council President Barbara Tulanowski stated that the Borough pays for the stickers and that cost may be passed on to the residents.
"We do have to pay for them." Tulanowski said. "We've been talking maybe there should be a minimum charge, say a dollar per bulk sticker. Over in Hazleton when you get a bulk sticker you have to pay five dollars."
The charge for stickers is being planned to begin for the new year, Tulanowski said. "We were thinking that maybe for next year we would put in that we would start charging for a bulk sticker."
Council voted to advertise for a crossing guard and part time Borough Secretary. Council President Tulanowski made clarified that the crossing guard position would require clearances including FBI, Criminal History, and Child Abuse clearances.
