Officer Ryan Mariano of Hazleton Police while on Patrol in the area of Green/Broad Streets at 2048hrs, observed a light in color Ford sedan matching the description of a vehicle possibly involved in a shooting Monday evening in the City.

The vehicle was observed to be traveling south on Lincoln Street at a high rate of speed where it made a left turn onto W. Maple Street.   Mariano called for backup and activated his lights and sirens to conduct a motor vehicle stop when the operator, later identified as Masiya Caudle-Stone (10/27/90) immediately exited the vehicle and fled on foot southbound through the alley of Tunnesson's Auto Parts.

Caudle-Stone then continued fleeing east on W. Broad Street where he ran through the Flow X parking lot and back onto W. Green Street.  Caudle-Stone continued on W. Green Street where he jumped down the embankment into the Sunoco Gas Station parking lot where he droppe (33) live 9mm ammunition (Bullets).

Caudle-Stone was eventually taken into custody in front of Flow X by Mariano with the assistance of Hazleton, WHPD, BTPD and PSP.  After being taken into custody a search of the area revealed a loaded 357. Magnum Handgun bearing Serial #9K13894 with 5 live rounds and 1 spent (Shot) casing in the backyard of 588 W. Green Street.

Caudle-Stone was subsequently transported back to City Hall.

Contact was made with the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office.  The handgun was sent out for ballistics and charges are pending further investigation.

The female passenger of the vehicle fled the scene and was never identified. Charges are pending.

"The officers involved did a remarkable job and we appreciate our law enforcement counterparts assistance."
