Sugarloaf Police Department's new Drug Drop Off
In February, the Hazleton City Police Department unveiled their Drop The Drugs van, which carries a mobile collection bin for unwanted prescription and illegal drugs.

Prior to the van, the Hazleton City Police Department only had a single drop off bin located at City Hall.
Yesterday, the Sugarloaf Township Police Department announced their Drug Drop Off box at their police station located at 858 Main Street Sugarloaf.

Drug drop off boxes provide an opportunity to get prescription pills and illegal drugs out of medicine cabinets and off the streets through no-questions-asked collection and destruction of the drugs.

Freeland, among other departments locally, have plans in the works to acquire drug drop off boxes.

Hazleton's Drop The Drugs website states that the van has collected 91 pounds of drugs to date.
