A teenager shot Monday morning has passed away after suffering a gunshot wound to the face.

The incident happened around 2am at the Freeland Public Park. The victim, identified as 17 year old Anthony Bonney of Freeland, met the alleged shooter, 18 year old Brandon Gambardella of West Hazleton, to sell cocaine. According to court papers the substance that was sold was actually drywall shavings and baking soda.
Originally, Gambardella was only charged with three charges of aggravated assault, however the District Attorney says that Gambardella will now face homicide charges due to the passing of Bonney.

Court paperwork also states that Gambardella told a friend that he did not intend for the shooting to happen.

Bonney's family has shared on social media that his organs will be donated.
