Accident Between Car & Motorcycle Leaves One Dead In Hazleton

On August 17, 2019, Hazleton Police Patrol Units responded to a FATAL Motor Vehicle Accident at 11th  Street and McKinley Street at approximately 6AM on a report of a car vs. motorcycle, and an unresponsive male bleeding from the head. 

Upon arrival units located that the two vehicles, a 2007 Kawasaki bearing PaA Registration was in the area of  the intersection on 11th Street and a 2005 Mazda bearing PA Registration with heavy front-end damage at rest against a retaining wall on the southwest corner of the intersection. 

Also observed was the operator of the motorcycle, a 24year old victim laying unresponsive on the sidewalk on the west side of McKinley Street just in front of the Mazda. 

The motorcycle operator was not breathing, but was found to have a pulse. LVHA arrived on scene and began working on the victim before transporting him to LVHH where he was pronounced dead. 

Based on preliminary investigation, the operator of the Mazda was identified Argenis Andujar Jr., (09/18/00) and was believed to be traveling West on 11th Street after an altercation with the operator of the motorcycle.  It’s alleged the motorcycle operator took a physical action  directed at the driver’s side mirror of the Mazda, and passed them on the left while on 11th Street. 

It’s alleged that The motorcycle stopped at the intersection of McKinley Street where the back end of the motorcycle was struck by the vehicle throwing the operator and the motorcycle.

Andujar and his (2) passengers were all transported to LVHH for evaluation of minor injuries. 

Hazleton Detective Lieutenant William Gallagher notified , Chief of Police Jerry Speziale and responded with Detective Brett Greene. 

PSP CARS and R-I were contacted and responded. 

At press time notification of next of kin not made and the Investigation is continuing. ​
