Hundreds of US schools have closed due to the Coronavirus with 300 million students globally unable to attend school in over 20 countries with the UN stating “the global scale and speed of the current educational disruption is unparalleled.”.
Los Angeles declared a state of emergency on Wednesday, advising parents to prepare for school closures in the nation’s second-largest public school district.
In nearby New York, multiple school districts have already been closed.
In Pennsylvania, five schools in the Central Bucks School District just outside of Philadelphia were closed today after a group of children and staff within the district were exposed to a confirmed case of the new Coronavirus by a guest.
Butler Elementary School, Titus Elementary School, Tamanend Middle School, Tohickon Middle School, and Central Bucks South High School are closed.
Health officials say those exposed, which include multiple children and staff who attend or work at the schools, had contact with an asymptomatic person from out of state who was later confirmed to have COVID-19.
"At the time of that gathering, it was not known to anyone, including the out-of-state attendee, that the person was ill," Bucks County said in a news release.
